Taylor Fladgate were the first English Port shippers toÂ visit the Douro Valley for the purpose of buyingÂ wine and in 1744 became the first to acquire aÂ property there, Lugar das Lages, near the old townÂ of RÃ©gua. Lugar das Lages still belongs to theÂ company today.Â
A young, vibrant, rich and fruityÂ Port, made in the classic way and traditional to theÂ style that was very much sought after in the winesÂ of the Douro Valley by the early eighteenth centuryÂ Shippers.Â
The carefully selected individual wines,Â are aged in a combination of oak vats and casks forÂ three to four years, where they gain smoothnessÂ and elegance. They are then blended for continuityÂ of style.
